POTD - February Madness

Will this day ever end? L started with a practice at 8:00 this morning and just finished playing his fifth game of the day. We have been from Bountiful to Ogden to Draper. Four of five games were wins and the fifth was a loss by only one point. Gma and Gpa were good sports and came to all of the games except the 9:00 game tonight. They are probably in bed now and I am jealous! More games on Monday. Stay tuned...

POTD - It's a Sad Day!

This is more sad and dramatic for me than when I turned 40!  Our car that isn't even a year old turned over 20000 miles tonight.  Between driving all over heck and back for my job and to Sandy almost every week for basketball, it is running up the mileage faster than I like!

POTD - Oh Deer!

I was ironing my clothes this morning, when Ron starts yelling something about being attacked outside!  I went down to see what was going on and there were five of these little garden-eaters walking around.  This one just sauntered up the street, looking at me, but not concerned as I stood on the front step.  No wonder the boxers have been going crazy this morning!

Too bad this isn't a better picture.  My phone was the nearest camera at the time.

POTD - This is What We Do

Watched three games tonight at West Jordan High and listened to the Jazz game on the way here. This is what we do!

PnR placed second in the Winter Elite league and tonight started tournament play.

Big win against the Wildcats. L with 7 points and 8 rebounds.

POTD - Mind Your Manners

When you can't watch America's Funniest Home Videos without attacking the tv, you have to sit by your mom with your leash on.

POTD - The heat is on

Really? 70 degrees on February 11? This is my kind of winter.

POTD - Look Closely!

Look closely and quickly. Once the deer in my neighborhood find out these are peeking out, they will be gone!

POTD - The Bad News Bears

Even when L doesn't have a basketball game, it seems like he finds one.  It was church ball night.  It is pretty sad/amusing to watch.  L tries to just make sure everyone gets to touch the ball and have a good time.  I think some of the boys think it is the NBA.

Yesterday was the first day since starting the POTD that I have missed!  (WARNING...long story coming.)

I took a trip to Cedar City for work.  We flew in to St. George and then drove up to Cedar City from there.  On my way out, I got to experience the new body scanner.  Evidently, it didn't like what it saw, because I was then escorted by two women for a full-body pat down.  It really didn't bother me as much as I thought it would have.  The most painful part was listening to her explain what part of her hand was going to touch which part of my body - awkward!

Yesterday, we drove back from Cedar City.  We programmed the St. George airport into our GPS in the car and off we went!   Somehow, our GPS didn't know the way to the airport!  I knew we were in the wrong place, since we ended up near a school L had played soccer at before and I knew that was off course.  There were actually signs posted along the way that said, "No Airport Access."  Apparently, we weren't the first ones to get off course!  Thank you iPhone and Google Maps for getting us back en route!

Because of our little detour, once we got to the airport, I had missed the 30 minute cutoff for checking my bag.  I walked up to the counter as the girl announced the cutoff.  Seriously?  That close, and they wouldn't take my bag.  Doing carry-on isn't a big deal to me, but I had my full-size hair products and my makeup bag in there!  My options were to carry-on my bag or take another flight 1 1/2 hours later with a $50 change fee.  So...after going through my bag and throwing out all of my hair product, I headed through security.  Apparently, I have been tagged as a terrorist, because they felt the need to manually go through my bag.  Nothing quite as embarrassing as your co-worker standing there as they rifle through your unmentionables!  Um...and that scary device in the blue case??  That is my TOOTHBRUSH!!!  Be careful, I might polish your pearly whites to death with it!

I finally made it through security and boarded the plane.  I did a gate check with my bag which means that I handed it to the same girl who told me I was too late to check it and she put it in the same baggage compartment on the plane that all of the other checked bags went in to.  Good thing I threw out all of my stuff!  After I was settled on the plane, I wish I had hid my hair stuff under a bush and had my parents pick it up for me!

I hurried off the plane and ran to my car (which was parked in daily parking so I could avoid the shuttle) and rushed home just in time to catch the tip off at L's game!

After that long story, hopefully you can understand why there was no POTD yesterday!

POTD - In the Air

On my way to Cedar City via St.George. I always goof up when booking my seat and end up over the noisy wing!

POTD - Celebrations!

Tomorrow is Ron's birthday! He told us that all he really wanted was to go out for breakfast today. Breakfast is his favorite meal of the day and one of his favorite places to go is Eggs in the City in Salt Lake. It has a nice, relaxed atmosphere and fun decor.

Happy early birthday Ron!

We also held out Third Annual "Souper Bowl" party tonight. We make soup and have everyone over for the game. No one really had a vested interest in which team won so it was a calm group. The Giants and the Patriots played with the Giants ending up winning. We had tomato soup, potato soup, and chicken with wild rice soup. And...it wouldn't be a party without Ron's famous salsa and guacamole!

In between Eggs in the City and the Souper Bowl party, we went to Sarah's birthday party! Full day! I'm ready for bed now!!

POTD - Big Man

L's coach set up a big man training for the three bigs on his team and a few other boys from other teams. There were eight boys in all so it was really great, focused training; better than the camps we sent him to last summer. BUT...the best part of the training was that they worked out with Thurl Bailey. Thurl played for the Utah Jazz. What a nice man! He worked with each boy and gave them player-specific coaching. L had a fun time and played great. I think he stepped up his game because of who he was playing with and playing for.

If I had known the setting, I would have taken my big camera and shot some closer shots. I wanted to be a little incognito! So...I made Ron slip down closer to the court and snap these with my little Nikon. Not super great quality from the little camera, but it caught some good memories from today.

POTD - I Don't Even Have Words to Describe

M's schedule is super busy these days. Between two jobs and EMT school (with homework out her ears), she isn't home at the same times we are. So...today we met up for salads before she headed out for the rest of the night.

As we were sitting eating our lunch, this guy walked by and it totally threw me off guard. I had such a hard time not staring at his fabulous coat. I laughed and told M that I wished I could get a picture for my POTD!

After we finished our lunch, we had a few minutes and walked to Barnes and Noble. As we were walking back to our cars, the heavens were smiling down on me! This beauty was standing in front of my car! If you could have only seen me trying to be stealth and take this picture on the sly. I was giddy when I finally captured it! It was as if I had actually hunted down the animal that this guy obviously wants to be! HA HA HA HA HA!!

POTD - One of THOSE Days

I left the house at 7:00 this morning and finished my day at 8:30 tonight. I had just enough time to grab Cafe Rio with Ron and L before I left again to teach a class of ninth graders how to handle their money during their trip to Spain...yep - one of those days.

Best of POTD

Of all the POTD's I've posted, I think this one was my favorite for January.

Not a great fan of Ogden, but really love driving past this area.

I have worked super hard to remember to post a picture each day to document our lives. I can't wait until the end of the year to choose a favorite POT-Year!

POTD - Is It Such a Bad Thing?

Our dishwasher died earlier this month and I haven't really been in a hurry to replace it. I know...I'm questioning my sanity as I type this. Here's why. Every night when dinner is done, everyone jumps up and helps clean. It's 6:30 and dinner is over, the house has been vacuumed and all of the garbages are emptied and outside for garbage day tomorrow. A dishwasher is awesome, but I love the added benefits I've had without it, too! (Look closely - you can see carpet lines!). I can't make up my mind!

POTD - Couch Potato

This picture is really pathetic. I don't know which is worse...M holding Molli like a baby or the fact that my dog loves to watch tv. Here she is checking out the X Games. I think she has a crush on Shawn White.
