I signed up for a class at the local quilt shop, but it's not until March. You know me and how impatient I am - so I "googled it" and taught myself how to make this quilt. Good thing that it is an easy pattern and the fabric comes in pre-cut strips (thank you Moda jelly rolls). All I had to do was cut it down and sew it together.
Once I had it put together, I had to figure out how to quilt it. Forget the hand quilting on the big frames. I wanted a quick and easy answer. So...free motion machine quilting! I still have a long way to go to perfect this skill, but not too shabby for my first rodeo!
I even got a little crazy and pieced the back with two different fabrics.
The whole process took about two and a half weeks, which isn't too bad for a first quilt, is it?
By the way Stacey, Jason and Katie...there better not be any marker-sniffing emails flying around about this...
