Jingle Bells and Dinner

We spent Friday shopping at the Park City outlets. Afterward, we took a quick trip over to Midway for dinner.

This is how we entertain ourselves on the way home from Midway

2009 Turkey Trot

This Thanksgiving started with a 5K race! Jason, Katie, Miss B, Gracie Doodle, M and L all ran in the Turkey Trot. Ron and I were the photographers and Grandma and Grandpa cheered them on out on the course. This was the first race L has participated in, and M hasn't put her running shoes on since July 4th! They all did so great! (p.s. Check out the guy behind L in his picture a little further down...love those pants. Sorry Jason, if only we had your name for Christmas!)

Happy First Day of College!

Yesterday, M started her first day of college. I think she made it through ok. She said she was going to go back again today! So...like any day of education, breakfast is the most important part of the day:

M thought that once you graduate high school, you are exempt from first day pictures...so wrong!

And...in keeping with my role of embarrassing mom, her is a picture of her driving away as I am waiving goodbye on the front step.

I Double Dog Dare You...

Ron and I were talking today on the phone and he told me that I should learn how to make hamburger buns. Duh...don't challenge me like that. So...after work tonight, I Googled a recipe and here are the results. M makes fun of me. She tells people at her work that her mom makes "Google Food." It's true, but I didn't know that there was a name for it.

Before you make a comment, Dad, yes - I only made 11 buns. I weighed the dough so each bun was the same size. L hasn't gotten into them yet.

And...while I had flour all over again, I made more bread. I made two loaves on Sunday and they are already gone. It seems to go a lot faster since L is taking home lunch every day. Picky little booger. He hates eating school lunch except on Wednesday, because that is pizza day! Oh well...I'm just glad he eats something other than macaroni and cheese, even if it is only a PBJ!

The loaves got a little big tonight because I had to wait until my buns were finished baking before I could put the bread in. L might have to use the gallon sized Ziploc bags for his sandwich this week!

Our Version of Back to School...

Yesterday was the first day of school for L. He is the king of the school and in sixth grade. We are quickly learning how to cope with daily homework instead of weekly like he has always had. That's ok. It helps us get used to a schedule each night.

Here is one of his first projects...using each letter in your name to describe you. I told him that he should have used Luscious for L, but he just rolled his eyes at me.

Happy Back to School L! Just know that I'll most likely cry at sixth grade graduation!

Who did you have breakfast with today?

Looked who stopped by this morning to join us for breakfast...

Soccer and Camping!

Soccer season has started! We had an awesome tournament in Park City last weekend. The weather was perfect, the fields were awesome, and the scores were less than ideal. L's team played, Kevin coached a U-10 team and Sarah's team played in it. It was all soccer all weekend (ok...maybe we took some time out to go to the outlets)! Instead of driving up and down the canyon every day, we decided to pull our trailer to Jordanelle and we camped with Grandma and Grandpa. Miss B was in town and was able to camp with us at Jordanelle. And...once again, Grandpa made us some mean breakfasts! MMMMMM

Silver Lake

We spent most of Saturday purging out our storage room in the basement. It started as, "I'll just pick up a few things here and there" and turned into a full-blown cleaning with a trip to the dump and two trips to DI. So...after that was said and done, Ron wanted to take a drive up to Silver Lake. I'm so glad we did! Not only was it beautiful, but it was 20 degrees cooler there!

There was wildlife:

More wildlife:

Sibling love:

Clear water that was breeding some serious mosquito action:

Family togetherness:

And amazing flowers everywhere!

But the most exciting thing of the day was the CAR-B-QUE we saw on the way home! It was totally engulfed and we could feel the heat as we drove by.

We've got to get out more often!

CON-GRAD-ULATIONS!

Today is the day we all dream about and dread at the same time! M has made it through finger painting, flash cards, algebra, showering in gym class and now is ready to take the walk across the stage to get her diploma!

Way to go! We are SUPER PROUD!

Our Week

We have had such a crazy-busy week, that I can truly say TGIF!!! M had regionals for track. She did such an awesome job! This picture is of her 1600 m race. She led the entire race, but was passed up with about 50 yards to go. Yesterday was her 3600 m race. I wasn't able to get there in time after work, but Ron and L were there to see her finish FIRST in her heat. WOO HOO!!! She also ran an 800 m about 30 minutes after that and finished 8th. She said her heart and mind were in the race, but after running 3600 m her legs didn't want to cooperate! We have had so much fun watching M run the past few years!

L has his second soccer game of the week tonight in Orem. On Wednesday, his team won 4-0 giving them a win/loss record of 6-1-1. Take a look at this picture. It's hard to believe that the other kid came out limping and L jumped right up.

Well...I guess I had better get ready for one more day of work this week. Remember...TGIF!!

Prom 2009

Has it really been since February since I posted last? I have a lot of making up to do!

Let's start with our big event today! PROM! This is M's last big dance as a high school student. She has been waiting ALL DAY for 6:15 to roll around. She got her hair done at 1:00 and her make-up done at 3:00 and from then on, she has been counting down the minutes!

Prom is at the downtown Hilton with dinner first at Market Street Grill. Hmmm...I wonder what M will eat since she doesn't like fish! Grilled cheese?

She told me I couldn't take a picture of her pinning on the boutonniere, I told her she should have gotten the wrist boutonniere for him and then it wouldn't be a problem!

Have a great time M and A! But...remember your curfew!
