Grandma Nanny
Ok...I totally stole this picture from my cousins' blog (sorry, Tina), but this is a picture of my Granny. I don't know who is having more fun...Santa or Grandma. All I can say is watch your hands, Santa!

L Goes to the Hoop!
I've fallen behind on the blogging. It must be the season! We had another Thursday night filled with basketball. Ron coached a bit, then we left to go to L's game and now Ron is playing in his own game. Notice what a good wife I am by staying home and blogging about it rather than being there. Also...take note what time it is. That will explain it all. (9:30 p.m.) Anyhow...here are some pictures from L's game. This was the last game for the fall session. He will start up again after Christmas.
Now...go to bed (I know I am...).
p.s. Did you notice that L now sports a faux-hawk instead of the shaggy hair? It must be a "turning ten" thing...

Happy Belated Halloween!
I know I'm a little late, but it has been a crazy week!
L was a pirate this year and hauled in quite a booty while trick or treating.

M was the Bride of Frankenstein with a fabulous wedding dress courtesy of D.I.

Grandpa went as a hospital patient this year. His costume seems to be the most authentic. This was the night before he learned he had broken his femur during his fall at the hospital. Get better soon, Grandpa!

I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane...
Ron and L left early this morning for Denver. L has only been on an airplane one other time so he was FULL of questions this morning. Ron's grandparents aren't in very good health, so they flew over to visit them and to help them "winterize" their yard. I kept waiting for security to take me away because I was taking pictures of the security check. Happy Sunday!

WAHOO!
Well, the Cross Country season officially ended last night at the team dinner. M worked so hard this year! She qualified for state, but sadly, couldn't run it because she had injured her leg during the season and it was too painful to run on. L keeps telling her that she is one of the best XC runners in the state! WAHOO!
Last Spring, when M ran track, we took a picture of her beloved track spikes and put the saying on it, "The pride you gain is worth the pain". We should have made that her XC motto. She certainly deserved the pride she felt (and mom and dad) last night when they named her MVP for the girls' team! This was something that her entire team voted on. Also...the team captains make their own "awards" and they gave M the "Determination is My Nation" award and told how determined she was to keep running. Her coach had to tell her to stop running during practice one day because she was hurting so bad.
Finally, (nope, that's not all), M was voted Captain of the girl's team for next year! I guess that commits her to coming back!
What a great night! We are proud of you M!

Homecoming Night!
Tonight was M's big Homecoming Dance! She started off with a day activity this morning at 11:00 where they went to lunch and then ice skating. She came home just in time to go and get her hair done and then home to wait for Mckinsey to do her makeup.
Nick showed up with a long-stem rose and a corsage. I had to do the official pinning of his boutonniere (I hope he has stopped bleeding by now). Megan and her date came in so I made them all pose for me. I had to take a bunch of pictures of M by herself before they came. M threatened me earlier today that we could only do a few quick snapshots and not an entire photo shoot when they came. Here are the pictures from the big "pick up" for the dance. Grandma has been looking at the blog for at least the last half hour for pictures (yes...I can see you when you sign in) so here they are...

Triumph!
At M's meet this week, she did AWESOME! She finished 19 out of 77 runners and FIRST for her team! We are jumping in the car to head to UVSU this morning to see her run again! Too bad it is freezing and most likely will be raining! GO M!

Run, Run, as Fast as You Can!
Here are some pictures of M in her race tonight in Murray. She finished 4th for her team, but I don't have her race placing yet. See how seriously she takes the race, unlike the girl behind her. What do you think she is thinking about? I don't think you are supposed to smile as you run...

M had a big day! After her race tonight, she came home and had been asked to Homecoming. Cute huh? Just another excuse for mom to bring out the camera! (I wonder if she has warned the boy about me?)

Cross Country!
M is on the Cross Country team. She is just a little runner! Today she had a meet in Layton that was 2.75 miles (they are all different distances). She finished fourth for her team and 30th overall. That qualified her for the VARSITY team and a run at the BYU invitational this Saturday! YEAH!
This is how many girls ran today...

Take note...there is a Davis girl BEHIND her! She lives to beat Davis...

Happy First Day of School!
Well...here we go again - the first day of school! (Who's idea was it to start school on a Wednesday, anyhow?) M is a Jr. this year and L is starting fourth grade. They are both excited for the year to start. I guess sitting at home with your sibling all summer isn't all that great...
M was dressed and ready when we got home from the gym and L wasn't too far behind her! Check out M's new hair color! She said that Chloe didn't know who she was when she got home from having it done.
M is too big for a backpack these days. She had to have a "book bag" to carry her stuff around. I guess it is a lot cuter than a backpack, though! Notice the gym bag? She has her first cross country meet after school today. I'll let you know how that goes.

L wasn't ready for pictures yet when his sister left, so they don't have any pictures together. He rode his bike to school. I think he was afraid that if I took him to school, I would go in with him and take pictures of his teacher, his desk, his locker, lunchtime, recess, etc. I don't know...maybe I would have!

Anyway...Happy First Day of School!

Celebrating by Helping Others
M celebrated her 16th birthday this month! Can you believe it? It is a very exciting thing for her and a very scary thing for me!
Instead of having a friend party, M wanted to have her "party" at the Utah Food Bank. She invited some of her friends out and we sorted and weighed food to be sent out to needy families. Instead of bringing presents, M asked her friends to bring a food donation to the Food Bank. What a proud moment for mom :)! Here are a few pictures (did you think I WOULDN'T take pictures?) of the group.
Happy Birthday M! We are so proud of you!

Cowboy Up!
We went to the fair! M always likes to spend her birthday at the Cassia County Fair in Idaho. Here is a picture of my cousin, Todd riding his horse:

Ok...not really - that was from the rodeo. Here he really is. He was part of a cutting team and did really well. They finished in the top ten out of 100+ teams!

He's a Keeper!
L has been playing in the La Roca cup the past two days. Rush came in third overall. They are starting to mesh together as a team and did really great!
My favorite keeper met the goal post head on in his first game today. I was freaking out on the sideline, but after sitting out for a while, he seemed to be ok. Whew! What do you think they would do if the keeper's mom ran out on the field to see if her kid was alright? Just kidding...I wouldn't really (or would I??).
Anyway...here are a couple of my favorite pictures from the tournament...
